Sorrows of a Sex Symbol

Can we actually, seriously - with integrity - quote Raquel Welch? This 69 yr-old aging sex symbol recently pondered our nation’s moral landscape and her own past in a CNN interview (read the entire article)and expressed remorse. She rues her marital track record (four and counting) and yet esteems this time-honored institution as a “cornerstone of civilization” providing a “sanctuary for children”. Welch goes on to label “trust and loyalty” as missing elements consequential to sexual freedom. Additionally, she hints at a pro-life mindset recounting “a life inside me” when she found out she was pregnant. We conclude our amazement with praise upon hearing that she has returned to her Christian roots and regularly attends Bible study. If a former sex symbol is evaluating our current situation in these terms, what must the Christian community be compelled to do to shore up our own churches? We, as a Body of Believers, have a spiritual obligation to pray for the direction this nation is taking! Please join us in this commitment!

More Ugly Hope and Change

Abstinence Education Funds Stripped

September 2010 marks the official discontinuation of all federal funding for abstinence education.  The DHHS (Department of Health and Human Services) announced this latest blow of “hope and change” to a group of abstinence centered educators this spring.
For years the comprehensive sex ed programs, touting condoms, birth control, the morning after pill and abortion, secure an obscene amount of our tax dollars compared to a mere pittance that abstinence ed received.  Now, that mere pittance will be snuffed out as well, thanks in part, to the relentless attacks from Planned Parenthood and others that abstinence education is “ineffective”.
Ironically, just days after the DHHS announced this budget cut, an article from Reuters was released, proclaiming the effectiveness of abstinence education.  The article stated, “Abstinence-only programs help kids postpone sex.” Humm…has comprehensive sex ed ever given a hint of evidence that their programs help kids postpone sex?  I don’t think so!
Thankfully, the CPC has never accepted any federal or state money for our “Love Waits” abstinence program.  Therefore we will continue to herald the time-honored message to “save sex for marriage”.  The kids need this message.  The kids embrace this message.  The kids will continue to hear this message; no money needed!

National Day of Prayer

Creator God, we humbly approach your throne and ask for forgiveness for the horrific abomination of abortion that continues to devastate our society.  You are the Creator of life, but for 37 years over 50 million babies have been legally aborted before their first breath in the name of “choice”.  Forgive us!
And for every abortion there is the 2nd victim!  A woman – intended to be a mother – who is gripped by shame and guilt with empty arms and a hurting heart that can only be filled and healed by You, Redeemer God.  Let the healing begin.
But we also see hope as modern technology allows us eyes into the womb and formally ignorant and deceived hearts are being enlightened by Your creative means.  Thank you for Abby Johnson and the difference she is making as she now speaks out on behalf of the unborn.  We also thank you for the recent states’ legislative decisions that highlight the fact that the majority of Americans are truly Pro-Life.  Thank You.  May we as a nation follow our hearts and do what we can to continue the political battle, cease from shedding innocent blood and protect these precious babies.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Blacks on Endangered Species List?

A series of billboards around Atlanta, GA, called black children an “endangered species.” The ads featuring a young black child were an effort by the pro-life community to spotlight the abortion industry’s racist history and rally support within the black community.
Too Many Aborted is the name of the campaign, and many pro-life groups are voicing support.
“It’s ingenious,” said the Rev. Johnny Hunter, national director of the Life Education and Resource Network.  “This campaign is in your face, and nobody can ignore it.”

Health Care Travesty

In response to the passage of HR 3590 – the Senate passed health care bill – we are deeply troubled by the abortion language contained and the pro-life language that was deliberately omitted from this bill.  The representatives that voted “Yes” have enacted the most abortion expansive piece of legislation ever to pass the Congress and will be held accountable to their constituents.  The following summarizes the abortion provisions:
1) Direct funding of abortion through the Community Health Center programs.  $7 Billion appropriated and unrestricted through a funding pipeline untouched by the previous Hyde Amendment’s protective clause.
2) Other direct appropriation not covered by abortion restriction.  $5 billion for a temporary high risk health insurance pool program.  $6 billion in grants and loans for health coops.
3) Federally administered abortion plans.  This creates a new program administering national insurance plans requiring the coverage of elective abortions.
4) Federally subsidized abortion plans.  This requires private plans – vying for federal subsidies – to mandate every enrollee to pay into a fund used exclusively for elective abortions.  To personally opt out could result in the lapse of an individual’s entire health coverage.
5) Authorities for pro-abortion mandates.  This highlights 2500 references to authorize the Secretary of Health and Human Services on various matters.  Some provisions could be employed to force every private health plan to cover elective abortions by listing abortion as a preventive service.
6) Missing abortion conscience language.  The absence of this language could potentially penalize health care providers who refuse to participate in providing abortions.

If all this seems confusing, remember this monstrosity was over 2700 pages long!  We grieve its passage and fear that many more unborn babies will never see life!  But we also trust that through the continuing diligent efforts of thousands working in the pro-life ministries that the potentially skyrocketing number of abortions will be held in check.  We’ll do our part.  Please pray that God forgives those voting for this heinous legislative act!

No-It’s Not a Quick Fix!

Abortion continues to be viewed by many as the “quick fix”.  I recently spoke with a married client - mother of a 4 year old - that just didn’t want to “deal with another kid”.  She stated she was too far along with her 1st pregnancy so she had the baby.  But in this early stage of gestation she wanted to “nip it in the bud”.  How tragic that our narcissistic society has molded the minds of so many to believe that if they are not in a perfect situation for an addition to the family, they’ll simply terminate the problem.  They are apparently not aware of the following:

After the moment of fertilization nothing is added to the human embryo except nutrition and oxygen.

By the time the baby is 6 weeks old, his or her brain waves can be detected by electroencephalogram.

A baby’s heart begins to beat 21 days after fertilization.

Abortion increases the probability of tubal pregnancies, premature births, cervical damage, and the psychological complications of guilt, anxiety, depression, eating disorders and grief.

And sadly, selective abortion is becoming increasingly popular.  We grieve the reality that this information is not recognized by the general populace.  But we are attempting to lovingly point our clients to the truth. Because, contrary to popular opinion, abortion is not a quick fix.

Terms of Deceit

Don’t you just hate it when words evolve into meanings of convenience?  The abortion defenders have slanted slogans for their own deceptive devices.  For instance, “Women’s reproductive rights” sounds just, doesn’t it?  But have we overlooked the reality that one half of the abortions terminate the life of a “very little woman”?  Where are their rights?  And how about “abortion is between a woman and her God”?  We’re so tolerant in that PC statement!  But whose god permits the dismemberment of a tiny baby’s body?  Or approves of the gruesome atrocity of the partial birth abortion procedure?  This phrase attempts to impose a moral framework on an immoral act.  Finally, “Every child a wanted child”.  Isn’t that a loving philosophy?  In actuality it reduces children to objects worthy of life only if someone “wants” them.  Studies indicate that abuse occurs in situation where the child was originally “wanted”.  We believe true humanity measures how we treat all humans.  Other similar phrases attempt to deceive as well; such as: “No one knows when life begins” and the whole “fetus” term replacing “baby”!  In conclusion, words have meaning and we oppose the pro-abortion’s deceptive tactic of slanting phrases for their agenda of death!

Valentine’s Day L-O-V-E

L-O-V-E

Valentine’s Day has come and gone.  Cards, candy and carnations were lavished on millions!  But this true-life story beats all:  A high school teacher presented her class with a scenario and invited discussion:  An intelligent girl from a poverty-stricken family became pregnant and would have to forfeit her college scholarship unless she “terminated the pregnancy.” What should she do?  The students all commented that abortion was her only solution.  It was then that a young man stood up and voiced his opinion.  “If it were up to all of you, I would not be here today.” He elaborated by explaining his birth mother had been in a similar situation, but loved him enough to place him in the nurturing arms of adoptive parents.  The moving testimony evoked apologies and tears of empathy from his peers.  The teacher also acknowledged that diligent inquiries can often yield satisfactory alternatives.  The love displayed by this boy’s birth mother cannot be overstated.  She found the courage to look beyond her selfishness and dire circumstances to bring life and joy into the hearts of others.  Over and above a February celebration of flowers and chocolate, this is true love!

Babies, Birth & Beauty

Having just returned home from being present at the amazing, miraculous birth of my new granddaughter, I am once more dumbfounded at the pro-abortion demographic.  Have they never witnessed this incredible, beautiful process?  For many women, our maternal inclinations have had us chatting about labor and delivery for centuries.  It’s who we are; it gives us identity; it gives us beauty!  I wonder if the majority of pro-choice women have never given birth.  Or, is it that they have never given the Creator the credit for the marvel of childbirth.  Or is it simply that the selfish ambitions of life outweigh the prospect of nurturing a defenseless, needy baby.  Whatever the reason, our Lord grieves at every abortion.  Conversely, God exalts in the beauty of every incredible birth.  It’s one of His finest moments!  I’m grateful to be a pro-life advocate that appreciates the sanctity of life and beauty of every tiny baby, most recently my sweet granddaughter!

Superbowl’s Superbold Tebow Ad

We’re so proud of Tim Tebow’s parents and Focus on the Family for the tenacity displayed dispite the reckless, panicked attempts from the Anti-Life Left to silence them.  The $2.5 million, 30-second ad came during the 1st half after a week-long, highly publicized, non-stop media campaign from the pro-aborts waged at CBS under the mistaken notion that “Focus” would use this as an overt anti-abortion platform.  Wrong!  The light-hearted ad simply celebrated Life and Family.  It concluded by directing viewers to the Focus websitehttp://http://www.focusonthefamily.com/ to see the full story of this incredible journey.  Without giving too much away, this heartwarming interview is highlighted by the Heisman trophy winner’s parents detailing the dire circumstances surrounding Mrs. Tebow’s pregnancy and insistance by her physician to abort.  Obviously, she did not!  Tebow does not take his beginning lightly.  Tauted as a strong role model, the quarterback has boldly displayed scripture on his face during his years with the Florida Gaters and travels extensively sharing the Gospel.  His father reminds him that someday he will be a preacher.  Mom contends he already is!  The interview concludes by encouraging women with unplanned pregnancies to seek help through the many pregnancy crisis centers and that “God is for Life”.  We say the ad - though not the strong pro-life message many expected - was a touchdown!

Planned Parenthood & Obama

Planned Parenthood’s Failure is Obama’s Survival!

If Planned Parenthood had had their way, our 44th president would not have survived.  Are you familiar with the history of PP?  It’s not pretty.  Beginning shortly after the Civil War the “negro problem” was addressed by Charles Darwin’s cousin through eugenics where only the “fit” were permitted to reproduce; and abortion and sterilization were forced on some 64,000 “unfits”.  Would Obama have survived?
In the 1920’s Margaret Sanger (PP’s founder) renamed the Black Project the American Birth Control League (ABCL) and aimed to diminish the reproduction of Blacks until they were extinct.  Her reputation earned her an invitation to speak at a Ku Klux Klan meeting and a dozen similar groups.  Would Obama have survived?
In the 1940’s Adolf Hitler so praised the work of the ABCL that Sanger cunningly changed its name to Planned Parenthood, fearing the outrage of the American populace.
The 1960’s saw the ambitious Sanger believing that birth permits should be mandatory; where a woman becoming pregnant without a permit would be forced to have an abortion.  Guess which ethnicity would not be permitted “permits”?  Would Obama have survived?
Planned Parenthood’s leaders also advanced the legalization of abortion ruing the fact that before 1973 abortions were expensive and primarily only the wealthy, white women could afford them.  That had to change!  Following their victory with Roe Vs. Wade abortion clinics were strategically built in minority areas to continue their extermination plot.
And now, in 2010, Planned Parenthood will receive more than one million dollars every day from the pockets of you, the Taxpayer, targeted toward the continued extinction of the black community!  This organization kills more African Americans in 4 days than the KKK killed in 150 years! Margaret Sanger would have been proud, but Obama would not have survived.

Haiti and Life’s Sanctity

As we gravely watch the explicit coverage of the Haitian earthquake and the accompanying tragic stories, may we consider anew how very sacred is a human life!  What heroic feats are being expended to rescue those trapped in the crumbling rubble!  Hundred of lives being saved thanks to the love, prayer and aid given by thousands of sacrificial individuals.  And now, may we also consider the sanctity of human life as early as conception in the womb?  This Sunday, Jan. 24th, marks the 37th anniversary of the infamous Roe V. Wade decision that legalized abortion on demand here in America.  How many babies have NOT been rescued from this travesty?  Approximately 50 million!  Hard to imagine.
As Christians, we have the opportunity and privilege to share God’s truth with women who find themselves “trapped” by the helplessness of an unplanned pregnancy.  We can offer compassion and hope for their future. This is the work here at the Caring Pregnancy Center.  By reaching out and extending care, support and encouragement, we believe a woman’s life can be changed forever - to rescue her from the entrapment of hopelessness into the secure and eternal freedom in Jesus.  We invite you to come alongside us in this rescue effort offering opportunities to volunteer in several areas listed in the link for Services.  May God bless you!
And pray for the victims in Haiti!

Unwrap That Present!

What gift did you inwardly desire for Christmas?  Did someone know; then spend the time, energy and money to purchase it for you?  How will you receive such a present?  Is the gift stilll wrapped elegantly with some fancy ribbon; laying unopened and unappreciated and unused under the tree?
How would the “Giver” feel if such pains were taken for the perfect gift and it never unwrapped?  That’s God!  He knew our inward need of a Savior, spent eternity choosing our Gift and paid the ultimate price in sacrificing Him on the tree for us.  Yet year after year millions choose to keep the gift on the tree, never untying the ribbon to be set free.
We at the CPC want to be the ribbon cutters.  Throughout the year our volunteers extend their hearts to women and men through sharing the truths of life and pure lifestyles, providing post abortion healing Bible studies and offering the hope of Jesus Christ.  If you have not unwrapped this Ultimate Christmas Present, please do.  If you have, please partner with in prayer for those who have not.

Merry Christmas!

JOY in Jesus’ Birth

What’s your favorite Christmas song?  Many would respond, “Silent Night”.  (Hopefully it’s not “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer”!) Personally, mine is “Joy to the World”.  The harmony is beautiful and the rhythm is paced for praise.  It originated as a poem penned by Isaac Watts in 1719 interpretting Psalm 98: 4:  “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord...” Unfortunately Watts died long before Lowell Mason - a Georgian banker - merged the lyrics with Handel’s “Messiah” melody in 1839.  This song wasn’t initially designed to be a Christmas hymn, but rather to celebrate Christ’s return!  Whatever the original intent, we’re grateful for this song’s presence on the Christmas carol list!
As we celebrate Life - especially the Savior’s birth and Light to us at Christmas time - let us all be thankful for the sanctity of life and let us all share our “Joy to the World”.

Abortion means “Going Green?”

What do climate change and abortion have in common?  Tons.  “Tons” of cabon dioxide emissions, according to some radical environmentalists.  They actually promote aborton to protect this planet!  Here are a few snippets of this left-wing wordview:
*The Optimas Population Trust concluded that abortion should be considered a “primary method
of solving global warming”.l
*Clubs such as National Wildlife Federation, Audubon Society and Sierra Club suggest that people are
“a major threat to the environment”.
*A late term abortionist calls humans a “malignant eco-tumor”
*Oregon State University states that the best thing we can do for the environment is “to not have
any children at all.” See accompanying article:  http://http://www.lifeissues.org/connector/2009/Oct09_Dark_Side_to_Green.htm

We believe that God has an eternal purpose for every conception that occurs.  He commnaded Noah,"Be
fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.” Gen. 9:1 We stand on these truths from the Supreme Life-Giver.  We
know that man-made global warming is a bad joke and has sober consequences if seriously considered.
